Finished!!

I've just finished writing my overview, and hope that you can understand it... Im really pleased with the results we have, because I didn't think we were capable to film and edit what we have to be honest. I've learnt so much in this project and hope and we'll be able to use blogs again in the future projects!!! :D

Press Release...

I worked on my Press release today, initially I decided to make a pretend launch of Louise gray's clothes at Dover St Market, but I'm not too sure if we could do that, and if we have to do a press release on the actual real screening event that will take place at uni. So I've done both and will put both into the disk to hand in ( just to let you know)....

YAY!! Last day of EDITING!!

Today's thursday. We met up in the afternoon, to finish the film. We decided to choose Danny Elfman's soundtrack for Edward Scissorhands for our film, because it went well with the footage and projected a nice and sweet mood overall. While Laura was in the events lecture, I tried putting the song into our film, however it was taken from Laura's laptop and was saved as a wma format, which couldn't be read in final cut pro. So we called one of the great I.T technicians, he was so helpful. After 10 minutes of downloading various file converters and being unsuccesful changing the format... He managed to change it into a quicktime format. After I successfully put in the song and had it rendered, me and Claudia looked on the internet on how to do add the credits page to the end, because we were unsure. After finding out how to do it, I managed to put it in, while feeling proud of what I acomplished, final cut pro FROZE!!! And we didn't save what we had done so far that afternoon!! So we had to restart the mac, and add in the audio and credits again. But because I knew what to do, it only took ten minutes to put it all back in. I then, cut down the song, so the beginning matched the film's start and cut the rest of the end and faded out the song. Job DONE!! With that all done, I can now focus on the press release and evaluation! RESULT!! :D

Another Day of EDITING...

Today's Wednesday. We spent half of the day on the film, putting more clips in and stuff. I thought it would be good to slow certain parts down and I found that putting the cross fade effect between clips work really well. Slowly we're getting there!! We just need to add in the music, title and credits page and do a last check and adjustment tomorrow...

More EDITING...

Today, I had my pilot dissertation presentation, then after, I met up with the girls to continue editing the film. It went well, Laura done quite abit of it while I was in my presentation. And thought what we had was looking quite good so far. Claudia volunteered to take over and edit, so that she can do her part to help, but in her own words, "computers don't agree with her". So I thought it would be best if I sat and guided her through it...

David LaChapelle...

Im a huge fan of photographer David La Chapelle's work, I especially admire the use of colour and the props and locations in his work. I came across this particular image with Christina Aguilera shot for Vogue and thought the background colours and details remind me of the circus / clown theme we're going with, although it is completely different to our work, it's still a good reference to show ... :)

Edit Edit Edit!!

Today, all three of us meet up to started working on the final edit of our film, after playing around with some bits, we showed Olle and Geraldine. They seemed pleased with what we had so far and were content with the overall look, so that made me glad, that we were doing something right. However, we uploaded the "bad" clown footage and tried adjust them, but we felt that the footage from that concept didn't work at all with our main "nice" clown. It was hard to edit it and add it to the main footage so that it would blend in with the rest of the film. Geraldine was also unsure about the footage of the "bad" clown we shot. So at the end we decided that we weren't going to use it as it doesn't look right with the rest of what we got. We also think that the film of the "nice" clown works and looks ok on its own, without beginnings and ends.

Evil Clown!!

Today we shot some footage which will hopefully go into our film as the beginning and end. We thought we'd use a crazy clown to contrast the main "nice" clown. We were unable to get our original model because she had lesson, so Laura volunteered and I filmed and done the make-up. Laura was suprisingly really good at being "disturbing and wierd", Laura, Claudia and I were qutie pleased with the footage that we got, but I'm quite worried about how we would edit it so that it works with the rest of the film as it is quite different in the look and mood entirely. Fingers crossed!!...

Me sorting out Laura's Wig...

Final Look, Creepy!!

On to the next one please!!

I saw this on e4 today and thought that the "clown" in the video would be a great reference for the make-up of our bad clown. The song is called "on to the next one" and it's Jay-Z's lastest song relaese. It a huge difference to what his videos used to be, however I liked the concept of the video what ever that may be... It was unusual, and didn't have a story or relate to the song words, however the clown caught my eye because I feel like I've been breathing, eating and sleeping clowns recently. The clown is the video is obviously distressed and distrurbed about something and judging by the make-up he would not be a "nice and sweet" clown like our Beca is.

I really like the style of make-up!!

Hey crazy!!

It's the weekend, and while trying to think of something to put in the start of our film, Laura texted me with her idea of doing a crazy, messed up clown to be opposite of our sweet clown that we already had. I think it's something that could work. So I researched and thought that the Joker from 'The Dark Knight' (played by the amazing and greatly missed Heath Ledger) would be a great inspiration for make-up as well as the disturbing wierdness of it all. Im looking forward to filming this! :)

"The Greatest Show on Earth"

This is a shoot for the April 2007 issue of Vogue Italia, shot by well known Steven Miesel and features model Karen Elson. Although it has a very similar name and idea to the fashion story The Chicest show on Earth, it is very different and more playful. However I couldn't find out which story was created first. Although I like both fashion stories, I prefer Steven Meisel's one because the look and direction of the model works more with the background and set. It is more energetic and gives out a more positive mood than the other, also, it has more things going on, especially in the background.

Mid project reviews...

Today was the interim Reviews with Dennis and Geraldine. Watching a number of people present their work and ideas, I was suprised that not many had started filming or even done test shoots. So I was relieved that Laura, Claudia and I had done most of the filming already. There were a few film clips shown that I thought were really good. However there were also many that had great ideas but personally I can't see it working out how they wanted it.

When we presented our work, (Laura made a slide show of our ideas, inspirations and pictures from tests etc.) Dennis and Geraldine said that they did not like the beginning sequence at all, because it didn't represent Louise Gray, also it was too cheesy and clique. I personally agree with them, as I thought it was the weakest part of our film, but the girls seemed to love the whole falling asleep and "dreaming" thing so I went along with it hoping it worked out. However we then showed our main part of the film, where our model is dressed as a clown and she wonders pointlessly in the park. The tutors suprisingly liked the footage. I think they were suprised with themselves that they kind of liked it too! Geraldine liked Laura's camera work which was good because Laura was worried that it wasn't good enough. So overall, I think it went well, because I thought that the feedback would of been much worse. The only thing now is that we have to quickly think of a new idea for the beginning of the film. :)

Shoot Day!! Filming..

Overall the filming was a success! It was sooo cold and windy and we had to bring hot tea and a blanket for our model Beca, who was amazing and brave. Thankfully it was quiet and there was not alot of people around, which made it easier to film and was more comfortable for Beca to do what she had to do. We were really scared that the balloons would fly away but it was ok. My favourite part of the shoot was when she was on the tyre swing holding the camera and spinning. It gave a amazing spinning effect.

My favourite part!!(Below)

Shoot Day!! Location

Here are some pictures I took of the location during the day of filming...

Shoot Day!! Make up...

This is the final look I decided for the model's "clown" make up. For the test make up the face paint I used was really difficult to apply and did not come across white. So I bought another one for the shoot day. This was much better although it was also time consuming. I gave the model blue eyeshadow all over her eyelids and drew on higher eyebrows. I also drew on a smaller comic lip. I was quite proud of the results seeing as I've never done make-up for others before. :)

Vogue's Fashion Fantasy..

I found a shoot from Vogue's December 08, titled " Fashion Fantasy / Unbelievable Fashion" which showed quirky and unsual garments. It included sculptual pieces as well as pieces created by the latest technology. The reason I've blogged about this is because of the quirkyness of some of the looks. I also really like the way the models are placed and how they posed, which shows of the fabric and the movements of the garments. :)

Louise Gray AW 2010

Just looking on the net for relevant images and notes and saw Louise Gray's latest collection.

More balloons!

I came across this amazing photo shoot for Vogue China's April 2009 issue starring model Magdalena. Photographed by Solve Sundsbo, styled by Anastasia Barbieri. I loved the use of the balloons as props and I also loved the color effect on the images. AMAZING!
